Pink Chalcedony Tube Rose with Natural Tunnel Hole. Chalcedony is a microcrystalline form of quartz. Chalcedony that is not formed under extreme pressure has a botryoidal surface. When cut, chalcedony displays some light colored or white banding within.

This Chalcedony Tube Rose has a natural hole that goes through the specimen. This specimen looks like it could be a small section of a soda straw.

A soda straw is a speleothem in the form of a hollow cylindrical tube much like the straws served in the soda shops, hence the term soda straw.

Under ultra violet light, this specimen fluoresces green.

Photographed dry and under full spectrum LEDs.
