Turritella, a genus of medium-sized sea snails with an operculum in the family Turitellidae. The sea snails had tightly coiled elongated shells in the shape of a cone. The shells are found as fossils within this translucent to semi-transparent fossiliferous agate found in the Green River formation of Wyoming.

The current material was incorrectly named decades ago when it was believed the fossils within the agate material were Turritella snails, when in fact the shells are from a freshwater snail from the Pleuoceridae family.

Photographed under full spectrum LEDs.
